LOCKING THE EDITING CELL IN EXCEL?

I have been working on a spreadsheet in excel and I can’t figure out how to lock a cell. Say for example I imput a number into cell A1 and following cells A3, A4, A5 populate based on a vlookup formula with the A1 figure. I have to enter different numbers in A1 to get the information from the cells A3, A4, and A5 for work purposes. I have found a spreadsheet before but don’t know how to set it up so when I enter a figure in A1 and hit enter, that it returns directly to A1 and does not proceed to A2. This will just make my speed a little after when I don’t have to hit undo when i’m in a hurry. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
(Also, I have locked all other cells so I can not enter any other information otherwise I get a popup message saying they are protected, but I would still like just A1 to be selected thoughout my work in the spreadsheet.)
Also, I know how to lock a formula such as $A1, A, and $A. I need to know how to keep the selected cell (A1) the selected cell even after I press ENTER.

I have calculations in the cells that return desired results. I don’t want anyone to be able to steal the formulas or make copies of the spreadsheet once I put it on a CD but they have to be able to enter variables and print the results. Anybody feel lucky? Remember to speak simple, I’m new at all this computer stuff. Thanks for listening.

I want to protect cells that contain formulas so they don’t accidentally get overwritten by entering a value. I know the same can be done excel, but I want to do this for Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheet.

Can you figure this out?

I got an e-mail from my cousin with a spreadsheet that is password protected. To figure out the password you have to solve the puzzle.

This is a 5th grade math problem. If you can open the spreadsheet, you’ll see it’s a very small list of people who have gotten the correct number. This is not a trick question. This is a real math problem so don’t say that a bus has no legs.

There are 7 girls in a bus. Each girl has 7 backpacks. In each backpack, there are 7 big cats. For every big cat there are 7 little cats.

The bus driver is not in the bus at this time.

Question:

How many legs are there in the bus? (The number of legs is the password to unlock the Excel sheet. If you open it, add your name, save it, and then send it on to see who else can unlock it.)

I can’t figure it out. Can you?
