My laptop screen broke. I removed the hard drive from the laptop, put it inside a hard drive converter box to make it an external drive on my desktop, and powered up.
I can see the laptop drive on my desktop, can access the drive to read and write, but the "my documents" "desktop", etc on the laptop drive are password protected (password entered at user account screen on XP), so when I try to access them, I get "access denied" message.
I tried setting PC to boot from laptop drive, but that didn’t work. I tried creating similar user account on PC, but that didn’t work either.
How can I get to these files? (Outlook address book, IE bookmarks, my documents, my music, desktop, etc.)
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I recently had Windows XP Home Edition..but something went wrong and the Explorer.exe file got corrupted. I got hold of Windows XP Professional Edition and I installed that instead of reloading theHome Edition. Now, I have two Hard Drives, one of which I used to back up music and photos and other important stuff from my documents and other users documents as well (there are 5 user accounts on my PC). Now the new Version of Windows is installed, I’m seeing the user documents from the PREVIOUS version as well as the user documents for the current version when I open the Documents and Settings Folder. The problem is: I can’t access my own folder, nor the folder that I backed up to the second hard drive and I’m guessing it’s because I was the only user that had a password when the files were backed up. I get an "access denied" message.

I removed my old harddrive and connected to my new computer theough aUSB port. When I try to open the file "documents and settings" it denies me access. My old computer, which this hard drive came out of, required me to log on with a password before windows loaded. I cant figure out how to disable the password so I transfer my old documents to my new computer . I looked for the control panel in the windows file but could not locate it. Please help I’m going crazy!!!!!

I bought the microsoft office home and student 2007 edition a year ago. My computer froze and it was sent for maintenance. The hard drive got formatted and now, Im trying to reinstall the software by putting the registration code. Every time I keep putting the registration code or key it says that it isn’t a valid one. I don’t know what to do.
